My only criticism is that I thought the description of Lysander was a bit over-the-top gothic.Guineverehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10058786129073896210noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-827750013790933422.post-1689190184042270712010-04-25T08:11:50.498-04:002010-04-25T08:11:50.498-04:00Jamie: Thank you!!! I've mostly been complimented on my imagery in the past, but no one has ever said anything about dialogue, so I'm thrilled that it's reading true. :) I can't wait for you to be able to read the whole thing!

Roland: Yay! A new follower! *lol* Glad you enjoy Dom's snarkiness, too. I hope I'm published someday so that you CAN read this book. ;) I checked out your blog and I'm lovin what I see. Thanks for stopping by. :) I hope you visit often!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04109677382274000163noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-827750013790933422.post-71621587395429850782010-04-24T02:50:24.907-04:002010-04-24T02:50:24.907-04:00"And the upside is that there's no felony..."And the upside is that there's no felony involved." There wasn't a single thing that I didn't like.

Excellent way of building it up to where you ended the excerpt. I kept thinking "Don't say her name! Don't say her name!" But it's exciting when Dom learns that Lysander is after Angelica.

I can't wait to read more and see where the story goes.

Amazing writing and I totally agree that your dialogue rocks!Lunahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08284738955789123035noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-827750013790933422.post-54578193484584916722010-04-23T09:29:48.045-04:002010-04-23T09:29:48.045-04:00DL: Thanks, partner! I have to say, though, that Dom makes it pretty easy for me. I "hear" him crystal clear (maybe becuz I'm totally in love with him) so his actions and voice just flow. I have to listen a little harder with the other characters to make sure I'm staying true to their individual voices.

A bazillion thanks and big hugs to both of you for taking the time to read and comment!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04109677382274000163noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-827750013790933422.post-57833277663356799052010-04-23T05:56:04.044-04:002010-04-23T05:56:04.044-04:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.daveskarenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09343939346824342772noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-827750013790933422.post-88709651815414901562010-04-22T17:51:47.374-04:002010-04-22T17:51:47.374-04:00I love it, I'm with DL the snarky humor rocks!...I love it, I'm with DL the snarky humor rocks!!!

You have insane dialogue (yes that is good) I'm not fantastic at dialogue so I am loving yours! It took a LOT of revisions (and the helpful use of a CP) to get this to where it is today. I'm so glad the hard work paid off. :)

I went back and forth on whether or not to keep the "weak arguement" in that sentence. I wasn't sure if it would read right or not. So I especially thank you for your input on that line.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04109677382274000163noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-827750013790933422.post-13478150018079475042010-04-21T11:08:06.197-04:002010-04-21T11:08:06.197-04:00(supposed to be "not quite sure when to keep ...(supposed to be "not quite sure when to keep his mouth SHUT, not to himself...) It made my...Love, love, LOVE the end of the scene. It made my heart beat faster and everything.

A couple of other lines I quite liked:

“Ever consider E-Harmony? I hear they do a bang-up job of finding you the perfect mate. And the upside is there’s no felony involved.”

That is one of the best lines of dialogue I have read in a long time...especially the "no felony involved" bit.

"Dom heard the underlying threat in the man’s voice. It was the type of thing he’d heard on a daily basis growing up." I thought the second sentence there was a really nice way to incorporate a bit of his backstory/personal history without making a big deal out of it. We know exactly how he feels and why, and it gives us an idea of why he is the way he is. All that in one sentence. Expertly done.

Also, the "weak argument" part of the wine cellar description really struck a chord for me.

I think this scene illustrates very well the kind of character Dominic is--kind of a go-down-swinging, speak-before-he-thinks, not quite sure when to keep his mouth to himself--I like him already!

Very nicely done.j.leigh.baileyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12086576155269323425noreply@blogger.com
