C'est Fini!

It's true! I can hardly believe it. My goal was to finish it before the end of the year and, at approximately 2:30 pm today, I completed the rough draft of my manuscript!

It's been a long and crazy ride, my friends. I started this crazy idea sometime in February or March (I can't remember exactly) of this year. It originally began as just a rough storyline in my mind that I entertained during my daydreams for fun. I decided to start typing the story on the computer for a hobby. I spent a lot of time on the first three chapters and was so excited about them. I started to feel like maybe I could make something out of my modest story.

Then those first few chapters were accidentally deleted. I was devastated and cried for several days. But I picked myself back up and rewrote it as best I could. I found that most of the rewrites were better than I remembered the original version. And so I kept on.

Now I've created an entire novel, complete with good guys, bad guys, action, romance and plot twists. I have the entire manuscript printed, ready for one last read-through from beginning to end. Then it's off to my editor.

Mission 2009: Write a Novel...completed
Mission 2010: Publish My Novel...has just begun.

  1. Congratulations Gina!!!

I am so excited for you! I wish you all the luck possible on your journey to getting published.

I would sure love an ARC for a review when it happens. ; )

I must say I am extremely jealous. I have had an idea for an entire series for the last year and have gotten nowhere thus far one the first novel. It's so hard to find the time I need to write when it seems all I do is work.

But, my resolution this year is to finish my manuscript as well. Minimum 2 pages a day. I know it doesn't sound like much...but any writing is better than no. Lol.

Again, congrats. It is an amazing feat. Please keep us updated on how things go!

  2. Thank you, Jessica! Believe me, I know what you mean about not having the time. There were months when I didn't even write because I was swamped with kids and homelife.

And 2 pages a day is nothing to shake a fist at. I don't know how anyone else writes, but 2 pages can take me all day! I have a hard time turning my inner-editor off and just letting the basics flow.

The important thing is to just keep plugging away. I'd love to be reading your "C'est Fini" update sometime this year!

Thank you so much for following my humble blog about a regular girl with a dream. :) Happy New Year, Jessica.

  3. This is fantastic news! Way to go, Gina! Good luck with your final revisions and I hope your novel finds a home right away because I can't wait to read it. Happy wishes to you! I'm SO inspired by you...

  4. Thank you, Moon. I'm very touched that I've been able to inspire you. :) It's strange to think that my literary journey could have such an impact on others. I wish you all the best in your writing. Maybe we'll be able to support each other this year with our goals. There's definitely strength in numbers and networking. ;)

  5. I appreciate the encouragement, Gina! Sounds like a plan...:)

Oh, and good luck in your writing journey, Jessica W.

  6. Awww Congratulations Gina! That is awesome.

Take a few seconds to commment, I'd love to hear your thoughts...
